Saratoga Springs, NY - Stephen J. Matrazzo, of Hamilton Street, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 14, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital. He was 66. Born on July 14, 1944 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Margaret J. (Izzo) Matrazzo and a lifelong city resident. A 1963 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, he participated in numerous sports programs, including varsity football, basketball and baseball. Steve was an enthusiastic sports fan and enjoyed rooting for the NY Yankees and NY Giants football teams. He attended SUNY Canton and was honorably discharged as a veteran of the US Army and a former member of the Army reserve. A member of Saratoga-Wilton B.P.O. Elks Lodge 161, he was employed for several years as a salesman for the former Carroll Auto Sales and later worked at Plaza 15. Survivors include his sons, Stephen Matrazzo of California and Darin (Jessica) Matrazzo, USN and their daughter, Mia Matrazzo, all of Hawaii; one sister, Vivian (Jack) Mangini and a brother, Joseph A. Matrazzo, all of Saratoga Springs; three nephews and many cousins. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7pm Thursday at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway 584-5373. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Friday in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, by the Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia. Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue.
