Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - Susan Lynn Brundige, 77, passed away with loving family at her side on March 1, 2025. Susan was the daughter of the late Dorothy L. (Williamson) Brundige and Frank A. Brundige, Jr. and was born in Saratoga Springs on November 25, 1947.

Susan graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 1965. She loved her high school years including being elected to Prom Court her senior year. Following graduation, Susan attended Becker Junior College in Worchester, Massachusetts where in 1967 she earned an Associate Degree in Medical Administration. After graduation from Becker, Susan moved with college friends to Boston, Massachusetts where she held a coveted administrative role for the Italian shoe buyer at the famous Jordan Marsh Department Store.

Susan missed her hometown immensely and soon returned to Saratoga Springs to spend the rest of her life in the city she loved. In her 20's, Susan worked for several physician offices and spent happy times working with good friends at The Rafters at Saratoga Lake and The Office on Broadway. Susan then went on to work at Skidmore College Alumni Office, Saratoga Hospital, and Saratoga Radiology. Most recently she will be remembered for working over the last several decades as administrative support in the Guidance Office at Maple Avenue Middle School. Working into her 70's, Susan was a dedicated employee who genuinely enjoyed her contribution and those she worked with.

Susan's life was devoted to her family and friends. She treasured her close relationship with her sister Cynthia and her family despite living in different time zones. Her love for, and pride of, her son Evan was evident to all who knew her. Susan's joy was enhanced when Evan married Whitney Shafer, and even further when granddaughter Zoey was born. Every conversation with Susan included stories of Zoey usually prefaced with introductions like, "that Zoey is a bucket of laughs."

An amateur Saratoga historian, Susan spent many happy hours in her home office, walls adorned with photographs and illustrations of iconic Saratoga locations surrounded by a small library on historic Saratoga Springs. Susan's passion for genealogy led to her complete lineage research on the Brundige and Williamson families back to England and Wales spanning more than 15 generations. In addition to genealogy and anything Saratoga, Susan loved to refinish furniture, spend time in the garden and backyard, visiting with neighbors and keeping up with local and national politics.

Susan is survived by her son, Evan Williamson, his wife Whitney Shafer Williamson, and granddaughter Zoey of Saratoga Springs; sister Cynthia Brundige (Mark Grossman) of Oklahoma and their children niece Kathryn Grossman of Washington, D.C., niece Mallory Grossman, California, nephew Steven Grossman, California; and aunt Constance (Williamson) Cherry, California. Susan is predeceased by her parents, uncle Stanton R. Williamson, aunt Bernice (Brundige) Viele, and aunt Leona (Brundige) Dwyer.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 14th from 5-7 pm, and attend a funeral/celebration of her life on Saturday, March 15th at 10am, both to be held at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY (518) 584-5373.
