Albany, NY -  Suzanne Elizabeth Dudley, who resided in Albany, passed away unexpectedly in late December, 2017. She was 65. Previously she had lived in Saratoga Springs, Oneonta, Carmel, and Far Rockaway.

She was born in Saratoga Springs on August 9, 1952, the daughter of Arthur George Dudley, who passed away in 1997, and Mary Agnes Lazott, who passed away in 2011. She was cherished by her brother, Arthur Thomas Dudley, her cousins once removed—Rita Rogers Whitney, Mary Rogers Belle Isle, the late Michael Rogers, and the late Joseph Fennell—and by many beloved second cousins.

Suzanne graduated from Oneonta High School in 1970, having distinguished herself through her singing talents in the Varsity Choir and numerous All-State vocal competitions, and in many productions of the OHS Drama Club. Beginning in 1970 she attended the State University of New York College at Oneonta, and subsequently graduated from Hartwick College with a BA in Geological Sciences. She later received secretarial training at the Katharine Gibbs College in New York City. After returning, in the 1980s, to the Oneonta area, she married Michael Close, of Norwich, with whom she had one son, Nicholas Neil Close. The marriage ended in divorce.

She worked for a number of upstate New York attorneys, including William Bookhout and Steven Feuer; for various retailers, including B. Altman & Company in New York; for Listener Magazine; and for Guyson Corporation, her last place of employment. In her spare time, Suzanne was an avid reader, and in recent years she had taken up knitting, creating many lovely garments for family and friends.

Suzanne is survived by her son; her brother and his wife, Janet S. Dudley; her niece, Julia M. Dudley; her cousins and other family members; and by many beloved friends. Her keen mind, her abiding love of music, and her loving, outgoing, incandescent personality will be forever missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends may call from 10am to 12noon on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs followed by a funeral service at noon. Interment at Saint Peter's Cemetery will be in the spring. Donations in Suzanne's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
