Greenfield Center, NY - Sylvester William Sesselman of Greenfield Center, most recently of Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital. He was 88. Born on Nov. 9, 1922 in Greenfield Center, he was the son of the late Andrew and Alice (Wagner) Sesselman. Ses attended a one room school on Wilton Rd. in Greenfield near the family farm and went on to graduate from Saratoga Springs High School in 1942. On June 8, 1946 he married Beatrice Atwell in St. Joseph's parish rectory in Greenfield Center. They were married 65 years, living and raising their family in Greenfield. Ses was involved with St. Joseph's Church and the Greenfield Grange for several decades along with the Greenfield Volunteer Fire Dept. from its earliest beginnings. He was employed in the dairy business throughout his career, starting at the Brookside Dairy in Greenfield in the late 1940's and at Stewarts Saratoga's receiving plant until the late 1980's when he retired. He enjoyed simple pleasures, good meals, helping his sons, staying close to home with Bea and entertaining his grandsons, family and friends. In addition to his parents, Sylvester is predeceased by two brothers, Clarence and Fredrick(Mary) Sesselman; four sisters, Lillian (Carroll) Hoffman, Florence (Donavan) VanDerwerker, Elizabeth (Ralph) Ellsworth and Athelene Sesselman. He also leaves behind many in-laws, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Survivors include his wife Beatrice; his sons Arthur (Kathryn Hathaway) Sesselman of Porter Corners and Thomas Sesselman of Hadley; his sister Agnes Buettner of Manchester, CT; three grandsons, Taylor (Giselle) Carrera-Sesselman of Brooklyn, Bryar Sesselman of Greenwich and Caleb Sesselman of Saratoga Springs. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8pm Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Funeral services will be conducted at 10am Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 at the funeral home.
