Obituary
Saratoga Springs, NY - Tara McGowan Goldman, 58, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 16, 2018.
Tara was born in 1960 in Hartsdale, NY. She later moved to Scarsdale were she graduated from The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry. Tara graduated Trinity College in Washington DC, class of 1982. After college she worked in Washington, DC at J. Walter Thompson as an ad executive. She later moved to New York and there spent many years as a market analyst at London and Leeds.
In 1992 Tara married Jay Goldman and moved to Saratoga Springs. Jay and Tara summered in Saratoga and wintered in Lake Worth, Florida. She was an active golf and tennis player and held multiple championships in both, at Candlewood Lake Club in New Milford, CT. Tara was also an accomplished shuffleboard player. She held many titles in the state of Florida and was inducted into the Florida Shuffleboard hall of fame in 2017.
Tara is survived by her husband, Jay Goldman; her siblings, Martin McGowan of Seattle, WA, Christopher McGowan (Andrea) of Cincinnati, OH, Virginia Gray (William) of Stamford, CT, James McGowan (Lauren) of Rye, NY, Leanne LaFond (Kevin) of Cornwall Bridge, CT; sisters in law, Sondra (Goldman) and David Silverhart of Saratoga Springs, Carole (Goldman) Siegel of Pittsfield, MA and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8pm Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Friday, Sept. 21, 2018 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs and burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the ASPCA (aspca.org/donate).
