Ballston Lake, NY - Terry Martin, 74 passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center on Saturday, September 17th, 2 days before his 75th birthday, with his family by his side. Terry was born in Deposit, NY, the son of the late Edwin and Wilma Martin. He was a graduate of Sydney High School and Oneonta College. He did graduate work at the University at Albany, at Middlebury College, and in France.

The eldest of 9 children, a born leader and nurturer, Terry enjoyed teaching French for 34 years at Stillwater Central School. His kindness and joy for life influenced many. Terry married his wife, Anita Bonneville Martin, whom he met at Stillwater in 1974. Together they created a home in Saratoga Springs filled with laughter, love, activity, and family and friends. In 2019 they moved to Ballston Lake in the same neighborhood as their youngest daughter.

Terry was a family man to his core. He was the ring leader to his 8 younger siblings who adored him. He used his vivid imagination to build snow forts, rafts, and provide countless hours of outdoor fun. He was the devoted father of Kiersten Martin Hall and Regan Martin, father in law to Patrick Hall, and grandfather to Lyra Hall, all who brought true joy to his life. He is survived by 8 siblings: Betty, Dan, Nancy, Jon, Jill, Helen, Jeanne, and Mari and several nieces and nephews along with their spouses and children.

Terry enjoyed family vacations that created many beautiful memories, family dinners, reading fantasy and historical literature, playing video games, decorating his home for Christmas with his many extraordinary collections, and sharing a quiet cup of coffee on the patio with his wife and friends. Attending a variety of sporting and musical events for his granddaughter brought so much happiness to his heart. He touched our lives with love and joy.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to those at Albany Medical Center who cared so lovingly for Terry and for his family by his side, treating all with tenderness and respect. Terry received extraordinary care from extraordinary, compassionate people.

A Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 22 ^nd at 10:30am, at the Presbyterian New England Congregational Church at 24 Circular St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 followed by burial at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave.
