Saratoga Springs, NY – Thomas R. "Murph" Murphy, 53, passed in peace with his family by his side on January 3, 2019 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY.

Tom was born February 22, 1965 in Albany, NY and raised in Saratoga Springs as a "Patricia Lane kid." He graduated from Saratoga Springs High School after having attended 3 years at Saratoga Central Catholic High School.  Tom is fondly remembered by his family and friends, many from his early days at St. Clements, as a great guy and always willing to chat with anyone. His 15 years at Price Chopper and most recently Hattie's Chicken Shack, where he felt he was with family, were great opportunities for a quick hello. Tom was always ready for a conversation and would always have a smile to cheer you up.

A talented athlete from an early age, Tom loved to compete.  He played little league baseball for the Saratoga American's in the 70's, basketball for St. Clement's CYO through 8th grade, Saratoga Central Catholic HS (1980-82), and finally at Saratoga HS in 1983 for his senior year. Tom was a stellar athlete and was proud to have and developed lifelong friendships through the years.

Preceded in death by his son T.J. Murphy and father Robert F. Murphy. Tom will lovingly be remembered and missed dearly by his mother Elaine H. Murphy of Saratoga Springs, his sister Karen Murphy Hefter (Steven) of Maryland, brother James Murphy of Saratoga Springs, and all of his nieces and nephews; Keegan Murphy, Kennedy Murphy, Alicia Rohde, Lauren Alexander, Olivia Hefter, Matthew Hefter.

Relatives and friends may call from 3 to 6pm Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Thursday, January 10, 2019 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. by Rev. John D. Kirwin.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
