Saratoga Springs, NY - Thomas E. Waring of Spa Drive died June 1, 2013 quietly at home after a long series of illnesses. He was born August 16, 1936 to William H. and Kathryn I. Waring (Riordan). Tom graduated from Saratoga High, class of '54. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Siena College in 1958. In 1968, he received a Masters of Public Administration from the Graduate School of Public Affairs from the State University of New York, Albany. Tom's entire career was spent working for the State of New York. He was the Director of Fiscal Research and Special Projects for the Comptroller's Office when he retired in 1991. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by a brother, William J. Waring (Joan); a sister, Barbara A. Waring and an infant niece, Elaine Mary Waring. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Claire Stanford Waring; a son, Thomas E. Waring, Jr. of Ballston Spa (Marylee Fitzgerald); a daughter, Suzanne Waring Daly (Peter) of Marlborough, Massachusetts; a brother, Samuel K. Waring of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; a cousin, John (Jackie) Riordan of Greenfield, 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Patrick, and Elizabeth Daly of Marlborough, Massachusetts and Michelle, Thomas III, and Madeleine Waring of Ballston Spa; the mother of the Waring grandchildren, Kerri Weiskotten (Kurt) and two nieces and a nephew, Maureen Gizzi, Paulette Spina, and Christopher Waring. In accordance with his wishes, Tom will be cremated with no visitation or services. Those wishing to do so, can contribute in his memory to either the E.O.C. Soup Kitchen,Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church, 23 Circular St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or the Saratoga County Animal Shelter, 6010 County Farm Rd., Ballston Spa, NY 12020. Claire will be in seclusion for a period of time and hopes that relatives and friends will understand her need for complete solitude during this painful time.
