Saratoga Springs, NY- Vance Griffith of Saratoga Springs passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2023 while surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old.

Vance grew up in Cambridge, NY but moved to Saratoga Springs soon after marrying Norine, his wife of nearly 60 years. There, he and Norine raised a family of three children, Alyce Griffith (Robert Fassett); Christopher Griffith (Christina Martens); and Amy Griffith (Ryan Holohan). A pharmacist by trade, Vance worked in the Glens Falls area for nearly 50 years before retiring.

Family was everything to Vance. Besides spending time with his wife and children, Vance was devoted to his surviving mother, Paula, visiting her nearly every day in recent years before his health declined. He also cherished his three grandchildren: Olivia, John and Charlotte. Vance is also survived by his sister, Nancy, and pre-deceased by his father, Watcyn. Vance also has several surviving nieces and nephews and in-laws whom he held dear. A special thank you to those who helped Vance during the last days and weeks of his life.

Vance was a brilliant man, with a breadth and depth of knowledge in subjects ranging from Latin to pharmacology, to sports facts from as early as his high school days. He enjoyed using this knowledge in one of his favorite past times, crossword puzzles. He also loved dining out, following the Red Sox, and dogs, especially beagles. Known for his zany wit, hard work, and selflessness, Vance will be sorely missed by those who loved him. He was simply a steady, unassuming presence to those he loved.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866  followed by a burial in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.
