Greenfield, NY - On May 27, 2023, Virgil M. Steele passed away peacefully while at Mt. Valley Hospice Care in Gloversville, NY. Virgil was born on April 14, 1936 in Porter Corners in the Town of Greenfield at the home of his parents, the late Lewis and Emma Jean Steele. He will be missed by his two sisters; Kathleen Pfeiffer and Jean Irwin and all his children, grandchildren, and friends.

On November 8, 1968, Virgil married Cynthia L. Covell. From this marriage came two wonderful children, Evonne Marie and Steven Douglas. Later in life, Virgil married Normalee R. Johnson (deceased) on August 9, 1985, where he helped father and raise S.g. R. Johnson.

Virgil graduated from Saratoga Springs High School. He spent years boxing where he won several matches in the Golden Glove rankings. He did a base term in the Army where he was honorably discharged. Virgil worked as a custodian for several schools and finished at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa, NY where he finally retired.

A graveside ceremony will be celebrated at Middle Grove Cemetery on June 24, 2023 at 10am with a small gathering at the church to follow (Victory Bible Baptist Church, 4532 Rt. 9N, Porters Corners, NY 12859).
