Obituary

Middle Grove, NY - Wade "Jabo" L. Sikora, of Middle Grove, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 23, 2010. He was 57. Born on June 29, 1952, Jabo grew up in Weirton, WV and always remained a true West Virginian at heart. After serving three years in the US Air Force, he attended West Virginia University and graduated with a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering. He moved to the Saratoga area in 1987 and grew to consider this his home. A son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Wade) Sikora, he is survived and dearly missed by his family: his wife Kathy and two children, Rachel and Renny, as well as his brothers Kevin, Scott, Sean, and Padaric Sikora; his sisters Rosanna Sikora, Colleen Fodor, Kelly Sikora, Patty Cotton, and a large and loving extended family and close friends. Jabo was known for constantly having a big grin, positive attitude and zest for living life to its fullest. Everyone knew him as someone who was always gladly willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed gardening, biking, running, hiking, kayaking, camping, and fishing, especially the Canadian trips he took with his lifelong best friend, Mike Dopudja. To those that knew him best, Jabo was the ultimate family man who enjoyed caring for and spending time with his wife and children. Relatives and friends may call from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7pm Sunday at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Monday in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, by the Rev. Dominic S. Ingemie, pastor. Burial with military honors will be 3pm Tuesday June29, 2010 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wade's memory may be made to the Saratoga YMCA, 290 West Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12886 or the Alzheimer's Association, 85 Watervliet Ave, Albany, NY 12206 To Jabo, my husband, Dad, our father, and Wade, our friend: We thank you for always being the first to be there and the last to leave, for helping us to laugh, by laughing at yourself, for showing us that a spark and passion for life make it worth living. Your wife, your children and your friends have an even greater appreciation and love for you as we come face to face with our loss.
