Obituary

Wilton, NY - Walter M. Eichler of Vincek Lane, died peacefully Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital. He was 84. Born on May 22 1927 in Saratoga Springs, NY, he was the son of the late John and Susan (Barna) Eichler, and attended Saratoga Springs city schools. he was a US Navy veteran of World War Two and honorably discharged in 1946. Prior to his naval service, he worked as a machine operator and was later employed as a truck driver for various firms, including 20 years for the Joseph Calabretta Trucking, Inc., while a resident of Red Bank, NJ. He enjoyed his cold Budweisers and watching the television. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by several brothers, sisters and his late wife, Bertha "Bert" Eichler. Survivors include many nieces, nephews and friends. Though he had no children, he was especially fond of his pet, Honey the cat. A graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted at 9am Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue. Memorials may be made in his name to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, as they were exceptionally very good to Walt.
