Walter J. Frank, 97 of Malta, New York, died July 27, 2018. He was the son of the late Walter J. Frank, Sr. and Genevieve Bley Frank.
Walter served as an aerial gunner on B-17 bombers in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He flew 49 combat missions in the European, African-Mediterranean Theater. He was awarded the Air Medal with eight Oak Leaf Clusters and five Battle Stars. He was honorably discharged in 1945 as a Technical Sergeant.
Walter retired in 1981 as a partner in the steel erection business. He was a Master Mason for more than 50 years; a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a Shriner Clown. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters.
Walter is predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret (Peg) and grandson Steven Puntel. Survivors include his daughters: Carol Puntel of Saratoga Springs, Peggy Evans (John) of New Hampshire, and Janice Ruggerio (Charles) of New Jersey. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
