Porter Corners, NY - Walter D. Winney, Jr. passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Saratoga Hospital. He was 66. Born May 15, 1942 in Saratoga Springs, NY, he was the son of the late Walter D. Winney, Sr. and Hazel Vandenburg Winney. Walter worked for New York State for 31 years, retiring in 1993. After his retirement, he worked as a monitor/driver for Saratoga ARC and for G. Heath King in their warehouse. He also did construction work for Malta Development. Most recently he worked as a Peace Officer for NYRA. Walter had many friends and was always willing to help out anyone who asked. He was deeply loved by his family and church family, who will miss him dearly. Walter is resting peacefully with God and the angels. Survivors include his loving wife, Anna M. (Rhodes) Winney; two daughters, Joanne Sleasman of Porter Corners and Tonya Ray of Greenfield Center; three sisters, Donna Winney, Rose Brooks and Linda Dashell; grandchildren, Tracy Taylor of Schenectady, Melissa Taylor of Wilton, Alyssa and Joseph Sleasman of Porter Corners, Torren Beattie, Jayden Tooley, Skyler Ray and Conner Storm of Greenfield; one great-granddaughter, Adalia Hargett of Wilton and another great-grandchild on the way. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife, Florence Pulsifer Winney and one son, David W. Taylor. Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 12noon on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Olde Liberty Baptist Church, 600 Route 67, Malta, NY . A funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor Darren Persons officiating. Spring burial will take place in Rock City Falls Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J.
