Wilton, NY - Webster D. Paine, of Edie Road, passed away Saturday (Apr. 18, 2009) at the Wesley Health Care Center. He was 77. Born on Nov. 16, 1931 in Saratoga Springs, he was a son of the late Edwin M. and Ethel (Davis) Paine, Sr. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he was employed as a welder/assembler for the General Electric Company in Schenectady. He and his wife both enjoyed golfing at McGregor and the Battenkill Country Clubs and together they also enjoyed fishing and were avid skaters. Web also participated in playing softball since high school and was a member of several local teams. He also enjoyed basketball, mountain cycling and walking around town and in the yard with his two dogs. He was a member of Gurtler Bros. Post 420 Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Adirondack Post 70. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister-in-law, Doris Paine and an aunt, Ruth Finch. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Ann" Royer Paine, whom he married in 1982; four brothers, Edwin (Ruth) Paine of Florida, Miles Paine of Malta, Walter Robert (Evelyn) Paine of Kennebunkport, ME and Richard Paine of Saratoga Springs; one sister, Shirley (Jerry) Fitzgerald of Middleton, NH; one son, David W. (Sharon) Paine of Newbury, NH; a step-daughter, Tina Marie Lucas; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, eight nieces and five nephews. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 2pm Friday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
