August 27, 1927 – January 22, 2019
Seabrook NH - Wellman Joseph Loviza, formerly of Saratoga Springs, NY, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Exeter Hospital after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was 91. To his family, he was Wellman, to his friends he was known simply as "Joe".
Born August 27, 1927 in Monroe, LA, Wellman was the son of the late Leo P. and Blanche Johnson Loviza. He was recently predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Celestine M. Loviza. While we will miss him tremendously, we find joy knowing that they are now once again united for eternity. He was also predeceased by his brother Leo E. Loviza.
Wellman is survived by three sons, Leo (Deryl) Loviza, Robert (Diane) Loviza and James (Rene) Loviza; one daughter Gayle Hogle; eleven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Wellman was a proud WW II veteran having served in the US Navy from 1945-1949 in the Asiatic – Pacific Theater. After his honorable discharge, he was employed by the F. A. Baehner Co., working on many projects including the West Milton Kesselring Site Off Hull Piping. In 1959 he started his own business W. J. Loviza Co. Inc., Mechanical Contractors. His company supported construction of many facilities including Jefferson Terrace, Vanderbilt Terrace, Stonequist Apartments, Saratoga County Infirmary as well as various schools throughout the Saratoga/Glens Falls area. After moving to New Hampshire in 1981, he worked for Pullman-Higgens as Piping Superintendent of the reactor containment building at the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant retiring in 1989.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU at Exeter Hospital for their care and support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Thursday January 31, 2019 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Avenue., Saratoga Springs, NY. Burial will follow at 12:30pm at the Gerald B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY.
