Saratoga Springs, NY - William T Cavanagh, 85, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022 in Saratoga Springs Hospital. Born August 13, 1936, he was the son of the late Thomas W Cavanagh and Margaret Cavanagh. Following his graduation from Power Memorial NYC, he served in the US Army and was stationed at Governor's Island and honorably discharged in 1958. He attended Fordham University where he graduated with a Degree in Business Management. He was employed at ITT in Nutley NJ and later retired after many years of service.
He loved Baseball - playing, coaching and umpiring and had the opportunity to umpire for the L.A Dodgers when he lived in Florida. He loved horse racing and did tours at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs as well as working at the information booth at the Saratoga Springs Racetrack.
William is survived by his wife, Maureen Dunn Cavanagh, whom he married Sept 14, 1957; five children, Eileen Blough, Kathleen Dalton, Brian Cavanagh, Maureen Hurst and Kevin Cavanagh. He had eleven grandchildren, John Dalton, Kathleen Dalton Richardson, Kevin Dalton, William Dalton, Patrick Dalton, Whitney Hurst Harper, Alana Hurst Krieg, Isaac Hurst, Jesse Blough, Eric Blough and Emily Blough; and nine great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call from 10am-12pm, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (518-584-5373), followed by a funeral home service at 12pm.
Burial with military honors will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.
