Wilton, NY – William E. Donnelly, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018.
Bill was born June 24, 1930 in Troy, NY and was the son of the late Howard and Elizabeth Daigle Donnelly. He attended St. Mary's School in Troy and graduated from LaSalle Institute. Bill served as a corpsman in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He began his career in radio advertising, and then Bill went on to have a long and impactful career in city government in the City of Glens Falls. A lifelong avid New York Giant fan, and a loyal Notre Dame fan, his heart was always with the Fighting Irish.
Family was everything to Bill. To his grandchildren he was Grampa, Bepaw and Papa. To his daughters he was Big Daddy, Dada, Dbiffer and Dad, to his wife, Bill. He had nicknames for all of us as well. He was a man of his word. A man of integrity and a man who embraced all things real and beautiful. He taught us most of our life lessons and we will be forever grateful to him for that.
He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth J. Flanagan Donnelly; three daughters, Mary (Ray) O'Conor, Cathy (Bob) Camphero and Colleen (Mike) Mooney; seven grandchildren, Brian O'Conor, Meghan Homicz, Robert and Emily (Ramon) Campchero, Erin Scanlon, Kailyn and Jillian Mooney; three great-grandchildren, Jack and Emma Homicz and Natalie Rosado. He loved his family, we loved him and will miss the Irish wit and his generous soul.
