Gansevoort, NY William R. Ernst, Sr. passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 at his home. He was 78. Born on Feb. 13, 1933 he was the son of the late Joseph Wesley and Elizabeth Ody Ernst. He attended St. Clements School and graduated from St. Peters High School. Bill joined the Army and served from 1953 to 1955. He was a custodian for St. Clements Church and school for many years. After retiring he worked at Fasig-Tipton in Saratoga Springs. Bill loved horses, fishing and watching the Yankees. His greatest joy was the monthly family birthday parties and telling stories. He was a member of St. Clements Church. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and James Ernst and one sister, Beverly Ernst Colman. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Susan Ernst of Gansevoort; his children, Peggy (Jeff) Bush of Gansevoort, William (Marina) Ernst, Jr. of Ft. Edward, Elizabeth (Tim) Pritchard of Ballston Spa, Melissa (Forrest) Greene of Gansevoort, Michael (Corine) Ernst of Rock City Falls; grandchildren, Jeffrey Melander, Joshua Garcia, Brandon Bush, Sarah Pritchard, Max Ernst, Evan Ernst, Cierra Broadway and Malayah Smith as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr.s Farrell, Capello, Dempsey, Keefe and hospice nurses Karen, Kelly, Brian, Donna and Arlene for their kindness and care during this difficult time. Funeral services will be at 9am Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
