Hoosick Falls, NY – William "Umpy" F. Umstadter, Sr., passed away Saturday morning (July 29, 2017) at the Gateway House of Peace with his family by his side. He was 62.
Born on Sept. 9, 1954 in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late George F. and Anna (Wilbard) Umstadter. A self-employed landscaper, he was also an extremely talented bricklayer and mason, having worked in the Capital District area for many years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, as well as always enjoying seafood, especially Alaskan King crab legs with his iced tea.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a daughter, Sarra Anne Umstadter.
Survivors include his children, William F. Umstadter, II and Tristan Scott Umstadter, both of Schaghticoke; his granddaughter, Allison Taylor Umstadter; his sister, Lee Chartier of Ballston Spa; a brother, Jim Umstadter of Florida; one nephew, Joseph Belmonte of Saratoga Springs; two nieces, Kimberlee Williams of Saratoga Springs and LeeMarie Towns of Rotterdam; his beloved dog and man's best friend, Cassidy, along with many fantastic friends that supported and cared for him during these latest difficult weeks.
All are invited to attend graveside services, which will be conducted at 11am Monday, Aug. 7, 2017 in Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Gateway House of Peace, 479 Rowland St., Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
