William James Healy Jr.

(February 9, 1933 – June 27, 2024)

William J. Healy Jr., 91 of Saratoga Springs, New York died peacefully on June 27, 2024. He was a native of Saratoga Springs and a lifelong resident of the city. Bill was a beloved spouse, parent and grandparent. He was a longtime local business leader and involved in many organizations in Saratoga.

Bill was born in Saratoga Springs on February 9, 1933 to the late William J. Healy, Sr. and Helen (Corcoran) Healy. Bill attended Saratoga Springs High School and graduated in 1951. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Worcester Polytechnic Institute and worked in construction before joining the US Army in 1956. He served in the Army Counterintelligence Corps and was honorably discharged in 1958. Bill married Joan Henning of Saratoga Springs on July 11, 1964. Since the 1960s, Bill was the President and co-owner of Congress Gas & Oil company along with his late brother Thomas J. Healy, where he worked until retirement in 2003 when the firm was sold.

Bill was a member of Saint Clement's Church where he served on the Parish Council and Finance Committee.  He was also the Co-chair, along with Gloria Dalton, of the Saint Clement's Horse Show for many years.  Bill was a member of many civic organizations in Saratoga including the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 161, the Knights of Columbus, and the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick.

Bill was an avid skier and spent most winter weekends at Alpine Meadows in Greenfield and Gore Mountain in North Creek. He was a member of the 85+ ski club. In the summers, Bill and his family spent weekends on Lake George where he enjoyed boating, swimming, and relaxing on the islands. Bill and Joan liked to travel and took many trips across the country and world with friends and family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joan, two children, William P. Healy and his wife, Tiffany of Arlington, Virginia and Kathleen A. Tomaski and her husband, Robert of Saratoga Springs; four grandchildren, Meghan and Elizabeth Tomaski and Regan and William Healy; Sisters-In-Law Linda Healy and Gail Lincoln; Nieces Kelly Healy and Erin Healy; and Nephews Thomas J. Healy Jr. and Thomas Lincoln.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 11:00 am at Saint Clement's Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs.

Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave., Saratoga Springs.
