Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - William "Bill" Ray Joubert Sr., 80, peacefully returned to the Lord on Monday Jan. 8, 2018 at Albany Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Born on July 30, 1937 in Saratoga Springs, the son of the late William Joubert and Margaret Plumadore Ross, he attended Saratoga Springs High School. Bill played in the band "The King's Four" with various members at local establishments during the 60's and 70's. He loved playing the drums and fondly remembered those years. He also worked in several businesses during his career as an executive chef/cook or in management at the Americana Inn, Service Systems/D.A.K.A. at the Empire State Plaza, the Steuben Athletic Club, Killington Ski Resort in VT and the Glens Falls Elks Lodge #81, just to name a few.  While at the Empire State Plaza, he was the executive chef at Governor Hugh Carey's Albany wedding reception in April of 1981. In more recent years he has been at the Knights of Columbus #243 in Saratoga Springs where he prepared, catered and hosted numerous receptions, banquets, council functions and private parties.

He was a third degree member of Saratoga Council 246 Knights of Columbus and the Saratoga Assembly 745 Fourth Degree Assembly. He was a former president of the Saratoga Columbian Association and was a lifetime member of the Principessa Elena Society. A member of St. Clement's Church, he was actively involved in numerous parish retreats and various church activities.

"Pa", as his grandchildren so fondly remember him, was never more happy and proud than when all his children and grandchildren could get together as a family, no matter the occasion. He cherished those times and always had a big smile whenever he spoke of his grandchildren. His stories, smiles, and cooking will be missed by many of his friends, old and new, that he made over his lifetime.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Patricia Joubert; his siblings Donald Ross, Richard Ross and Margaret Magrum.

Survivors include his children, William (Irene) Joubert Jr., Toni (Dave) Traver, Bernadette Joubert, and Adam (Sue) Joubert. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Melissa Joubert, Jamie Joubert, Kayla (Rehman) Kurji, Brittney Tree, Hayden Tree, and Carly Joubert; along with Sophia Kurji, his first great grandchild; his siblings Quentin Ross, James Ross, Joan Kackiewecz, Diana Madaio and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Friday (Feb. 9, 2018) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (518-584-5373). The K of C will meet at 6pm Friday at the funeral home for services and the Color Corps will serve as an honor guard during the wake.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Saturday (Feb.10) in St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. by the Rev. George J. Blasick, CSsR, pastor. Bill will be interred in the spring next to his wife Patricia at Greenridge Cemetery.
