Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY – William Frank Strang, Jr. passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 98. Born in Holyoke, MA on January 27, 1923, he was the son of the late William Sr. and Josephine Wager Strang.

Bill was an Army Air Corps pilot in WWII training in Denver, CO and Long Beach, CA. After his time in the service, Bill worked at General Electric in Schenectady for 38 years as supervisor in Large Steam Turbine. Also a member of the Rotterdam BPOE Lodge #2157, William held all chairs and played a huge part in the new building and programs as Exalted Ruler.

Retiring in 1981 to Vero Beach, FL, Bill and his wife Marcella fully enjoyed the winter life of tennis, golf, softball, and working for the LA Dodgers Spring training until her passing in June 2017.

A true gentleman, he was also a jack of all trades having built two homes and three boats. Bill also restored two antique boats for his and Marcella's summer life at their Lake George home. "Captain Bill" was a frequent site in the 1942 Chris Craft- "The Rogue."

Along with his parents and wife, Bill is predeceased by his brother Robert and his son Richard. He leaves behind his children Barbara Strang Cassier of Saratoga Springs; grandchildren, Brian Cassier (Tanya Burke) of Culver City, CA, Mark Cassier (Margaret Smith) of Greenfield, NY, Jeff Cassier (Kelly Stewart) of Weymouth, MA, and Jamie Gates Gulley; seven great-grandchildren; and many loved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery will be announced in the spring.
