William Edward Van Dorn Jr., 69, formerly of Saratoga Springs passed away peacefully on December 31, 2021 after a short illness in Columbus, Ohio, his home for the last 40 years. Bill was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School class of 1970.

Bill is predeceased by his parents Margaret and William E. Van Dorn Sr. He leaves behind his children Gabrielle and Trina Van Dorn of Columbus, Ohio, his sisters, Margaret (Gerald) Verrigni of Gansevoort, NY, Patricia (Daniel) Thornton of Saratoga Springs, nephews Nicholas (Jamie) Verrigni of Gansevoort, NY Ralph Grotto (Giulianna) of Saratoga Springs, NY niece Anna (Marc) DeAngelo of Guilford, CT. and several great nephews and a great niece.

Bill had several jobs through his lifetime until he found his passion for teaching. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Ohio State University and a master's degree from Otterbein University. Bill's passion for teaching led him to a career in elementary and secondary education with the Columbus School District. While working in the school system, he met his devoted friend and companion, Muretta Kasten who was always there for him, even in his final days. Bill also leaves behind Mary Bonelli, the mother of his children.He was a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and always rooted for his New York Giants. He will be remembered for his quick wit and love of storytelling.

Bill will be brought home and laid to rest with his parents at Greenridge Cemetery in the spring.
