Malta, NY – Yumi Kageyama Refino passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021. Born November 21, 1995, she was the daughter of Mee Nah Lim and Yuji Kageyama. Yumi and her family moved to the United States when she was eight years old. She graduated from Shenendahowa High School in 2014 and Siena College in 2021. Yumi was a mentor to many young professionals, helping and guiding them in starting their business ventures. On December 26, 2016, Yumi and her boyfriend Eugene started and successfully ran their own business, Risen Taekwondo in Malta. In May of 2021, Yumi and Eugene traveled to Aruba where they were married on the 27th.

Putting everyone else's needs before her own, Yumi wanted everyone to get along and was always there when you needed her. She loved spending time with family- including her taekwondo families, and her friends. A true motivator, Yumi was very driven, so full of joy, as she touched the lives of many. She loved to travel, especially back to Japan and Malaysia where she spent time with her family and enjoyed living their local customs.

In addition to her husband and parents, Yumi leaves behind her brother Takaaki Kageyama; grandparents Ah Hock Lim, Guah Kui Oh, Kazuko Kageyama; two nieces Madison Denney and Lily Chmielewski; nephew Landon MacDonald; best friend Katelyn Pingelski; her mother and father-in-law Maria and Dominick Refino and her two dogs, Teddy and Shea. She will also be deeply missed by her many Risen Taekwondo families.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8pm on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY (518-584-5373). Appropriate face coverings will be required.

A Celebration of Yumi's life will begin at 11am on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Grace Fellowship Church, 1 Enterprise Ave, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
